So I'm new to leatherwork and crafting...for all the n00bs like me, here is what I learned very quickly while making my last project, the brown vambraces: If you're going to make a curved piece (like a vambrace) and have several layers, DO NOT RIVET IT TOGETHER FLAT, or it will not bend properly.  Instead, you should probably punch the holes for the top layer, then lay both pieces over a form (like an arm), then mark where the holes should go on the bottom layer; that way, when you rivet the two together, they'll easily bend around whatever they're supposed to! I "began" my first suit of armor on July 4th, according to my latest journal entry, but then I didn't really work on it until the month of October (by then, I still didn't have armor, and I still needed a Halloween costume.)  So I doubt many people read this, but I know I love to read things like this... I've wanted my very own armor for AGES.  And tonight, I began it =P For now, it's just a cardboard template with some colorful construction paper.  Once I feel I have a solid design, I'll make a replica out of craft foam before I finally move up to the big leagues - leather! Never having done leather work before, I imagine I will start with the "easier" pieces - my bracers, a rerebrace, a kidney belt... I know I will have TONS of questions, so if ANYONE could help me out, that'd be so great!  I'll post any queries I may have here. -MReg
